What is PBIS?

PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

 

The goal of PBIS is to create a positive school climate, in which students learn and grow. However, school climate can vary widely from school to school. A number of factors affect school climate, including school location, neighborhood culture, instructional methods, student diversity, and school administration.

In short, positive school climate includes:

  • A feeling of safety
  • Respect
  • Engagement in learning
  • Involvement in school life
  • Shared vision
  • Involvement of teachers, students, and families

Prepared in Arrival/ Departure Areas:  Arrive to designated transportation area on time.  Respectful in the Hallway:  Use respectful language and behavior. Integrity in the Restroom:  Report any misuse.  Integrity in the Cafe:  Pay for what you get and get only what you need.  Integrity in Arrival/Departure Areas:  Follow all driving laws.  Disciplined in the Hallway:  Keep electronic devices put away.  Disciplined in the Classroom:  Follow classroom rules.  Disciplined in the Restroom:  Get in and out in a timely manner.  Disciplined in the Cafe:  Talk in an appropriate tone.  Disciplined in Arrival/Departure Areas:  Safety first.  Effort in the Hallway:  Keep it moving and don't be a groupie.  Effort in the Classroom:  Be actively engaged.  Effort in the Restroom:  Return to class quickly.  Effort in the Cafe:  Keep area clean.
