Teaching Experience

AFJROTC department chair overseeing a Corps of 200+ cadets and two senior enlisted personnel.  Teaches four unique aerospace science courses including the science of flight, global studies, survival and leadership. Lt Col Barrett is well qualified to teach at the post-secondary level with experience both as a student and instructor at the elite military university of the United States Air Force.  He taught multi-national, civilian and U.S. field-grade officers for three years at the Air Command and Staff College (ACSC).  The students rated Dr. Barrett as the top instructor at ACSC.  In addition to his teaching duties, he also oversaw the standardization of the curriculum and executed in-class evaluations of all instructors.  He was later a squadron commander at the Squadron Officers School where he was responsible for 1,500 junior grade officers, faculty and staff.  This institution groomed junior military officers for future leadership positions in the Air Force.  Lt Col Barrett’s military experience is diverse with extensive familiarity in leadership, instruction and interpersonal skills.   His military positions have included squadron commander, acquisition officer, wing inspector general, military advisor to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, flight instructor/evaluator and operations officer overseeing the Air Force emergency response to Hurricane Katrina.  He has over 13 years teaching high school AFJROTC.  His unit, GA-065, was selected as a Distinguished Unit with Merit last year and Lt Col Barrett was named Outstanding Instructor by HQ/AFJROTC.
